1 in 4 Texas Drivers Uninsured
The Insurance Research Council says that 21% of Texas drivers are uninsured,
compared to the national average of 14%. The states with the highest
number of uninsured drivers are Colorado (34%), Mississippi (29%),
Alabama (28%), New Mexico (27%) and California (26%). Texas ranks
9th. Urban areas such as Harris County, Dallas County and El Paso
County, tended to have higher uninsured motorists. The Texas Department
of Public Safety estimates 25 to 27 percent of Texas drivers are
uninsured.
Harley Davidson Earthquake
Did you hear about the earthquake last May that hit Harley Davidson's
new Kansas City, Missouri, Sportster production facility? It didn't
compare to the quakes in Turkey and Tiawan, and Harley still expects
to produce 189,000 Sportsters this year.

During the first quarter of 1999, the Colorado Division of Insurance
(regulators) fined the Golden Rule Insurance Co. $35,000 for "unfair
insurance practices violation."
U.S. Motorcycle Helmet Laws
Can you name the three states which have NO helmet law requirements
as of 8/15/99? These states require helmets for all riders: AL, CA,
D.C., FL, GA, MD, MA, MO, NE, NV, NJ, NY, NC, OR, PA, TN, VT, VA,
WA and WV. These states require helmets only for certain riders:
AK, AR, AZ, CT, DE, HI, ID, IN, KS, KY, LA, ME, MN, MT, NM, ND, OH,
OK, RI, SC, SD, TX, UT, WI and WY.
